Samuel Benjamin Bankman-Fried, often known as SBF, is an American entrepreneur and convicted felon. He co-founded the cryptocurrency exchange FTX and the quantitative trading firm Alameda Research. Once a billionaire and influential figure in the crypto space, his companies collapsed in November 2022 due leading to his conviction in November 2023 for fraud and related crimes, for which he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
