Alex Kotch is an investigative reporter, editor, and researcher with over a decade of experience in digital media, journalism, and nonprofit management. He co-founded the OptOut Media Foundation, a nonprofit charity focused on promoting independent news, where he served as executive director. His work primarily focuses on campaign finance, money in politics, and tracking right-wing funding networks, with his articles appearing in outlets such as The American Prospect, The Nation, Vice.com, The Guardian, and the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch. He also holds a PhD in music composition from Duke University, earned a Bachelor's in music from Brown University, and is a woodworker, DJ, and music producer.
